IT does amuse me to read letters from people referring to the closure of the Lewis Textile Museum in which they say it will have a major impact in people coming to Blackburn.
Just how many of these people have been?
The closure will have no impact as all the items on show will instead be housed in the main museum.
I know plenty of people who have been to Blackburn Museum but none who go to Lewis.
It is a sad reality that tough decisions have to be made when the public and the media shout at councils who increase council tax too highly.
If savings have to be made some services will suffer The Conservative Party has recognised this, which is why they have pledged to close Waves.
My only confusion is why they would close something that is attended by thousands of people and retain something that is attended by hundreds most of which are school parties which could go to the main museum anyway.
At least the Labour Party and Conservatives have bitten the bullet and put their money where their mouth is unlike the Lib Dems who will be going around saying they will cut taxes but spend more.
Perhaps they have found the secret magical money trees that will let them do this.
