MY great grandparents, William and Elizabeth Ann Preston and their children, Alice, Dennis (my grandfather), Ann, Joseph Lord and William, were at the time of the 1881 Census, living at 30 Commercial Street, Oswaldtwistle.
William, born in Pendleton in 1840, was a blacksmith. I know Joseph and Dennis were employed by the Co-op. Also, my great grandfather Joseph and an uncle, Eli Preston, a self-employed joiner, who used to live at 285 Blackburn Road, Accrington, along with his wife, Margaret, and son, William.
I would like to make contact with any descendants of the family and should, of course, be grateful for any information about the family. Could anyone who can help please contact me on 01394 285908.
HENRY N BURY, Ferry Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk.
