WE have just received our council tax demands for the period 2006/2007 for a staggering £2,487.90.
This for a two-bedroomed semi-detached bungalow in band C.
I feel certain that this must be a record for such a Burnley property.
Council tax for 2005/2006 was £1,185.81. This in itself is an excessive amount compared to other northern towns.
During 2005 I contacted Burnley Borough Council regarding the siting of our local polling station which was in the back room of a private dwelling which is very embarrassing to voters, without disabled access either, to be told they could not afford the cost of a mobile facility for voting.
Are they now suggesting we pay for one out of this massive increase?
Not very amused.
