I WRITE concerning Blackburn with Darwen Council leader Kate Hollern's comments (LET, January 31).
While I agree with Ms Hollern that the opposition parties are not strong enough, I also would be inclined to believe Tory leader Colin Rigby's comments that there is no prominent opposition because of an unfair system.
Labour are reluctant to listen to its electorates at both government and council level on such important issues as education, crime, immigration etc., right down to refuse collection, vandalism and speed cameras.
When told by proven statistics printed by the media that their policies are not working, they simply choose to ignore these facts, making feeble excuses and muddle on regardless, making promises they have no intentions of keeping.
In my opinion a coalition Government and councils would be much more effective and reliable because none of our political parties seem to be able to get their act together.
Meanwhile, violent crime, sexual offences and immigration have spiralled out of control.
Education, moral standards and our democracy in general are at an all-time low, through politically correct red tape and rubbish, bestowed on us by this present Labour government.
L ASHCROFT (Mrs), Blackburn Road, Great Harwood.
