ON the subject of bullying (LET, December 19), the chief medical officer for the British Heart Foundation says that bullying is responsible for thousands of heart attacks every year.
Surely it is in the interests of management to take bullying seriously!
Bullies should be warned that if they don't change their ways they will be instantly dismissed.
When management is responsible for the bullying I suppose the only option is to go to court.
The bullied person has had their self confidence undermined so much that this is often too much for them to cope with.
I think its time for an organisation where people could go for advice and perhaps have a spokesperson who isn't emotionally involved to speak up for them.
What is so pathetic is the way bullies seem to have a following. What sort of people are they?
I think we could perhaps benefit from a support group for bullied people. I know I could have benefited from such a group at a certain period in my life.
Mr N Preston (LET, December 19) should be congratulated on speaking up on this problem. The unhappiness caused through bullying is quite unnecessary.
