AS a former conciliation officer with the Race Relations Board and a former complaints officer with the Commission for Racial Equality covering Scotland, North West and North East of England, I read with interest your front page article headed "Racist Song of Shame."
I agree with Hyndburn Council leader Peter Britcliffe that the ex-Clayton-le-Moors councillor Nick Collingridge, at least got it right by resigning from the community group.
In my view he should be ashamed of himself.
Strangely enough, as far as I recall, his offensive behaviour is not unlawful under the terms of the current Race Relations Act as his statement does not constitute an act of incitement.
