On behalf of the Board of East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, I would like to thank all staff across the Royal Blackburn Hospital, Burnley General Hospital, Pendle Community Hospital, Rossendale Hospital and staff based in the community for their admirable efforts in maintaining vital health services during the very severe weather conditions.
Some walked miles to get to work in time; others had to contend with childcare problems, while others bedded down in Trust accommodation to ensure they could make it to hospital.
Our clinical staff have once again shown their determination to make sure their patients receive the care they need, and that dedication was matched by our non-clinical staff, who have also made huge efforts to get to work and provide the vital support necessary to keep our services running smoothly.
I am always proud of the work that East Lancashire’s hospitals do, and the last few weeks have confirmed to me that this pride is well-placed.
Hazel Harding, Chair, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
