I am writing to you in response to a letter from B. Imran (LT, December 31).
I and my daughter both got parking tickets on December 23 on Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn.
I was furious as they were issued at 9 30am and the snow had only just begun to thaw.
So I was pleased to read in your paper on December 24 that the traffic wardens had ‘overstepped the mark’.
I went on to read that many of the tickets would be refunded without the need to appeal.
When I contacted the town hall last week after this, I was informed that our fines still stand and we must appeal.
Why? Where are we meant to park when we can’t get down the roads we usually park on because they haven’t been gritted?
My daughter is appealing on our behalf but I really don’t see the point when Coun Michael Lee, leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, has intervened. The whole saga just stinks.
Jeanette Fell, Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn.
