Now that the analogue TV signal is no longer on transmission, households should have a range of options available to receive digital TV.
Television sets that cannot decode the digital signals are redundant and destined for the scrap-heap or they can still be used indirectly.
Homes that have kept hold of these sets and view digital TV via Cable or Sky in my opinion ought not to be liable for the TV licence fee.
This is simply because any BBC service would now arrive through a third party subscription service.
However, further consideration here would be any premises that have equipment for radio listening cannot escape the fee and are liable to prosecution for non-payment – such is the legal technicality.
