You have reported on the cross and chain worn by a Christian child attending a Christian school (LT, July 2).
The school has a perfectly legitimate rule against necklaces.
The fact that the chain had a pedant cross has nothing to do with the matter.
The mother is deliberately flouting the rules and thinks she should get away with it.
Also, St Mary's College has a perfectly understandable ban on facial veils for security reasons. I concur with that.
Schools must have rules and if parents or pupils don’t want to abide by them they should seek their education elsewhere.
