I agree entirely with Councillor Brown (LT June 27). The town is very dirty.
It is not the fault of the council or the people who clean Blackburn.
It is absolutely the fault of the large number (not all) of people who live in Blackburn. They are just plain lazy, dirty, could-not-care-less citizens who give Blackburn a bad name and drag the rest of us down with them.
Some people think they should not us a brush and shovel to clean up, perhaps they don't know how to use them, so people learn and get using them.
Some of us don’t like living among this filth. The litter pickets should never have been stopped. The small machines that clean the footpaths damage them as I have seen tarmac broken up by them.
It is high time we got rough on people who muck up the place. Strangers driving through Blackburn must think inside our houses are just as bad as the streets. So please get cleaning.
The council should set up a charge for extra street cleaning to he shared out and paid by all residents who insist on throwing rubbish in their streets and back allies. If is is not your rubbish still clean it up and ring the council to remove large objects in back allies.
Making people pay for extra cleaning may make them think twice. Also, parked cars down each side streets hamper cleaning.
