A FEW weeks ago, my family decided to spend the day at Morecambe.
It was absolutely red hot and many other families were enjoying a day on the beach.
Most people were wearing shorts and T-shirts and the children were wearing swimming costumes.
An Asian family came walking across the sand and sat down on the beach. The four ladies were wearing long black dresses down to their feet, and all of them were wearing burkas.
I felt quite sorry for them, they must have been very hot and very uncomfortable. The man and the children were wearing shorts and T-shirts!
I think the wearing of these burkas is quite insulting.
It’s as though men believe the sight of an uncovered face or a bare arm will turn them into wild beasts.
It’s a bit like Victorian timeswhen piano legs or table legs had to be covered up so that men’s senses would not become inflamed.
To be wearing something like this whilst sitting on the beach is going too far.
