I am writing to say a few words about the lack of parking in Blackburn town centre and car parks that have closed.
Blackburn was my home for many years, and for sometime now I have tried have to be loyal and shop in the centre each week along with my cousin.
I have always used the market car park because it is convenient to my needs.
However, as I come from Preston it takes me approximately 30 minutes to arrive there, only to get so frustrated when I use the car park!
The ticket machines are always breaking down and never as yet have I seen an attendant when I’ve needed one.
Also, you can never get a parking space most of the time. You’re driving around in circles (blood pressure going up) – it is so frustrating to say the least.
However, as I want to support this town I will carry on regardless, remembering the wonderful town as it was in the past and through my childhood years.
So come, on you council folk, get your act together and give the people of Blackburn a purpose to shop there (more car parks!) Be proud, encourage visitors instead of letting them get so frustrated they turn their cars around and head for other towns.
As a Preston citizen I can tell you we don’t have this problem with car parks. Attendants are always in abundance and there are plenty of vacant spaces, and a good park and ride scheme.
Please sort it out!
MRS P PREECE, Preston.
