NO, Colin, you are not dreaming in your letter to the Lancashire Telegraph.

There was a whale in the Towns Moor area of Blackburn as I can also remember it.

It must have been the late sixties when I went with my dad to see this whale.

It was inside a lorry parked on rough ground near Darwen Street bridge.

All I can remember is that it was night time and there was this big whale just lying there against a sort of sea backdrop.

Maybe we were the other two visitors that you saw at the time.

As to your question why and how long it had been there, I don’t know but I hope I have confirmed that you were not dreaming!

Also, I can remember seeing the Apollo capsule in Witton Park at the Lions Gala.

I think it was Apollo 10 and you had to queue to go up some staging to see inside the craft.

Funny but these are two things that I have been questioning over the past few years as to whether they ever happened.

Can anyone also remember the Chieftain tank that turned up for the Lions Gala and they would not allow it to cross the bridge over the river Blakewater into the Park due to its weight?
