THE UK Peace Mission and its members condemn very strongly and unequivocally the terrorist attacks on innocent civilians in Mumbai, India that have resulted in scores of deaths and many injuries without any justification and for no reason whatsoever.
Many people of Indian origin living in the North West are very worried about their friends and relatives who happened to be there at the time of these attacks. We reinforce our strong conviction that no cause of grievance can justify indiscriminate attacks against innocent civilians of any societies.
People of Indian origin in the North West along with all peace-loving citizens stand with the people of India and the UK and we believe the values of both great nations such as secularism, democracy, freedom, civil liberties and the tradition of peaceful co-existance will prove far more resilient than the politics of hate and hateful ideology that led to this type of foolish and unjustifiable attack.
Our prayers and thoughts are with all the victims and their families.
Imtiaz Patel, Chair, UK Peace Mission, Harwood Gate,Blackburn.
