Last week my daughter was on Work Experience in Bolton.
On Tuesday she went to catch the 8.10am train from Darwen to Bolton.
This was cancelled so she had to get the next train.
Wednesday and Thursday was the same story.
On Friday she went for the earlier train, as it was an important day of her Work Experience week.
Yet again this was cancelled so I had to drive her to work.
So out of the five days, she was late for three of them, through no fault of her own.
What if this had been her job? It wouldn’t have lasted long, would it?
To make matters worse, on Friday she went to catch the bus back from Bolton, although she is 16 she is still in her last year at secondary school, she showed her pass to the driver, but he wouldn’t accept it and she told us that last week an inspector had been on the bus and said, as she was still at School she could use her under 16 pass, and if she had any problems to ask the driver to ring him.
The driver did not believe her and refused to ring the Inspector.
We are told to use our cars less and use public transport more! Why?
