Over the years there have been stories in the media about the neglect and abuse, even, of vulnerable elderly people in so-called “care” homes, but not very often about excellent ones, so I will try to redress the balance.

There are some genuinely caring homes and so credit where credit is due.

One such home is Aaron House, Preston New Road, Blackburn, where my mother spent the last few of her 99 years, when she was no longer able to live alone.

We will never forget the care and kindness shown to us all by the manager and staff at Aaron House.
