Why all the fuss about a listed building at the bottom of Montague Street? Nobody over the years has taken any interest in the upkeep of this property, neither the council past and present, nor English Heritage.
The simple solution to this problem is to put the road on the other side of the building and save the money from any enquiry and spend it on renovating the property and turning it into a museum or visitors’ centre.
These problems should have been foreseen before a bridge was built in the first place. The bridge does not even run in line with Montague Street as the crow flies.
