I THINK that lights on motorways are beneficial, however I do think that lighting could be reduced to, say, one in three except at on/off ramps etc. where one in two would probably suffice.

This would probably still make a substantial monetary/energy saving whilst still keeping a reasonable level of light.

After all, drivers should be taking extra care when driving on unlit or dimly lit roads of any classific-ation.
