I am not surprised that the Old Chief Superintendent’s house on King Street, Blackburn, is holding up the next faze of the orbital road. This seems to be the norm for Blackburn Council.

Surely this should have been sorted out long before the first step was taken.

If a listed building is to be kept then it should be funded and restored to its original condition. This building has been left to rot since the 1970s.

I could understand if the building was actually being used and open to the public as a fine example of an 18th century house, but it isn’t, and like all other listed buildings in Blackburn it will be left to almost fall down before anyone takes any action. The old King’s Head pub is a prime example of what I am saying. It was left to fall apart, become a danger to the public and a terrible eyesore before anything was done. It will now be turned into offices, so how is that retaining our heritage? I am, however, sad to see the road may have to be held up and we who pay council tax have to fund the legal fees to sort this mess out. Carol Smith, St Silas’s Road, Blackburn
