WITH reference to Councillor Cottam’s comments regarding the ongoing saga of bus passes.
Well, Coun Cottam, are you not ashamed? Do you think you know how to read the minds of the electorate you represent?
Do you wish to risk the backlash of townspeople, or do you feel so secure in your role that you couldn’t care less about the needs, wishes, freedom and respect of your voters in Blackburn with Darwen? People who have been born, raised and worked in the towns and who now deserve a simple perk.
Remember when you are doing your budgets that this one thing counts more than you think. The electors who vote are mainly the elderly, so your comments could have serious repercussions and perhaps be the downfall of yourself and your party at the next election.
Try to have some compassion for the many poorer pensioners who have been given a new lease of life.
MR JOE CASSIDY, Brownhill Road, Blackburn.
