AT the end of the day, the only way the proposed bus lane out of Darwen could have been approved by the council was for a majority of councillors to have agreed to it.
As far as I know, the only party to fully support the bus lane was the Conservative party.
They have to rely on the Liberal Democrats and the For Darwen Party (their two partners in the coalition) to get any policy through the council.
And as the two latter parties gave the impression, at least, that they were against the bus lane – this means some councillors must not have been telling the truth.
After all, Labour were against the bus lane and had enough elected councillors to outvote any Conservative proposal.
A CULVERHOUSE, Cavendish Street, Darwen.
