I WAS surprised & disappointed with the article “Massive misuse of free buses”. For most elderly people this is the only form of transport available. In lots of cases they are on low income, pension etc.

We can also use the green issue when elderly people may own a car but will use buses instead. This is saving valuable fossil fuel.

A number of people have gained new friends by using buses, this keeps their minds active which could save money for the authority in health care.

I was puzzled why an example outside the Blackburn with Darwen area was used.

The Hyndburn area has now extended this service to before 9.30am.

I feel that elderly people do deserve a little bit of help.
