ONE often sees banner headlines in the Press complaining about the NHS. Having recently undergone a heart bypass operation, I would like to comment on the treatment that I received.

From my first consultation with GP Dr Royle, followed by further diagnosis and treatment by Dr Singh at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, who then arranged for a consultation with surgeon Mr Bittar at the Cardiac Centre, Blackpool Victoria Hospital, I have nothing but praise for the skill and professionalism of all concerned.

I would like to thank all the staff at the various establishments not only for their skill, but also for their consideration and cheerfulness which helped to make my stay in hospital less stressful than it otherwise might have been.

Whatever the supposed faults of the NHS, my recent experience could not have been better and I would like to thank all concerned.
