What a surprise to see a young local talent getting slagged off, instead of supported. I know only too well not to expect too much support from this town, when it comes to local talent trying to achieve something.

But even I was surprised to see the front page of the Daily Mirror, calling 17-year-old X Factor finalist Diana Vickers.

Instead of highlighting how amazing she is and helping her try to put Blackburn on the map her so-called friend found the need to cash in and slag her off to a national newspaper.

The paper used the term Devil, because it said she liked to go out with her mates drinking. If going out drinking with your mates makes you the devil, then there is not much hope for the rest of us.

In my book going out with your mates and making the most out of life, shows she is normal.

For a change why don’t people get behind her talent?

Because if she wins the show, I am sure the whole town will be her best mate.
