When did we begin voting for competitors according to their home town rather than on merit?
We complain about such voting in the Eurovision Contest because the British entrants don’t stand a chance against the block voting of countries supporting their neighbours.
Why then chivvy people of Lancashire to vote for Diana just because she lives in Blackburn? Is this fair? Does this ensure the best singer is elected or just the singer with the most local voters? What merit is there in winning this way?
By all means encourage people to watch the programme but to make their own decision not to be emotionally coerced. Diana is very talented so let her win fairly.
