Could the Rev Kevin Logan please clarify exactly which school lessons he is suggesting creationism and Intelligent Design should be taught or discussed in? (Saturday Sermon, 11 October) Because last time I checked millions of children are being taught this nonsense in compulsory RE lessons, particularly in the faith schools which no doubt Logan strongly supports.

Thankfully we do “gag the creationists” from teaching their bunkum in science lessons, because evolution by natural selection is a scientific fact, and to teach children that life might have developed in any other way would be intellectually dishonest and, quite simply, wrong.

Rather than more creationism in science how about, when the small matter of where we come from comes up, we have a bit more evolution in RE? That way, in addition to hearing how God created the universe in seven days, children might come away knowing something useful.
