IT greatly saddens me that Blackburn with Darwen Citizens Advice Bureau is being threatened with closure due to the reduction of funding by the local council by 50 per cent (LT, April 26).
Although CAB staff jobs face an uncertain future with the possibility of redundancy, it is the people of Blackburn and Darwen Borough who will be the losers.
I am not blaming one particular political party, as within the last year there has been a shift of power from Labour to a Tory-led coalition. I am blaming all Blackburn with Darwen councillors.
Money, in my opinion, has been spent on daft projects, eg the new so-called energy efficient street lamp at the centre of Sudell Cross which so I believe cost more than £66,000.
This money could have been spent on extra funding for charity organisations such like Blackburn with Darwen CAB who give an excellent service providing guidance, support and advice to clients on their rights and responsibilities when faced with certain problems.
I urge Blackburn with Darwen Council to think again.
MR GRAHAM A FOULDS, Royds Street, Accrington.
