I WOULD just like to point out a couple of important corrections to the article headed Leisure Centre agreed at last (LT, April 26).
Firstly the new sports hall at Darwen Vale has already been built and is up and running. Another new sports hall will also be built as part of the Darwen Academy.
That is why, at the time of the first planning application of the Leisure Centre, it was thought that yet another new sports hall was not needed.
Because of this change, the Leisure Centre has been delayed by about 18 months and added £3million to the cost.
The new sports hall at the Leisure Centre will be two thirds the size of the old one.
Secondly, the previous plans also included the rebuilding of the portico and a movable floor etc. The only real difference between the new plans and the previous plan is the addition of a sports hall.
