THE present Government was constantly warned that it needed to build more prison places, but for whatever reason they choose to ignore that advice. Now with our prisons full to bursting they have been forced into drastic and very unpopular measures.
Prisoners are being released early in 150 towns and cities nationwide, ignoring completely the concerns of local residents.
As well as the danger to the public there is the cost as the Government has struck a deal with a private company costing £2.4 million of taxpayers money, which works out at £250 per inmate per night.
Add to that the extra cost of police time chasing repeat offenders and one can see what an absolute disaster the Government has got itself into through not building more prison places.
