TESCO is in the news again locally as it is apparently about to build a brand new store in (little) Great Harwood.
However, I raise another point of concern for reflection - having shopped at a Tesco branch, always and I mean always, retain every single receipt whatever items they refer to. Why? Because of the prohibitive and, in my view, ridiculous returns policy.
I bought a bottle of Greek wine at a Tesco store in Manchester, along with about £50 worth of grocery and household items. When opened, the wine was cloudy and sour.
I returned it to the same Tesco and was given short shrift when I admitted that I had not got my receipt.
This stringent policy was supported in-store by a "team leader" and later by head office "customer services" management. How many of your readers retain every Tesco/Asda/Morrisons etc receipt for their weekly shop?
OK, if you have clothing or electricals etc, but surely not groceries. By way of comparison, take a faulty item back to Asda and, in most cases, they replace it and give a refund as well. Guess where we will be shopping in future?
