REGARDING binge drinking and the meltdown of public houses and the increase in juvenile drink-related crimes.
Let us go back in time a little, and get the brewers to lower the price of ale to the publicans to stop the sale of alcohol in super-markets.
This would bring back the local pub to where it was centre of the local community, where you could relate to all your neighbours and get help if required. People would also know if any old people needed help.
The landlord would also know who was underage, or his customers would.
These are just a few ideas which would improve society and would not cost the local authorities any money.
