AFTER talks with other users of Witton Park, it was left to me to write a formal letter of complaint about it being waterlogged and muddy.

The condition can only be described as a disgrace for a town such as Blackburn.

Since the walkways were installed about eight years ago, no improvements have been made.

You are unable to walk along the paths provided by the council alongside the river unless you wish to walk in slush and mud.

With modern power such as small diggers that the council has, it would be a simple matter to drain the water into the river.

Older people who are big users of the park, people walking their dogs and joggers taking their exercise find it most unpleasant to use the paths as they stand at present.

Coaches from all parts of Lancashire and other counties only see the good car parking area.

The sportsmen and women who use the facilities all give first class reports. But they only see the well preserved part of the area. The other parts of the playing fields require draining - urgently.

Also the condition of the car parks is such a disgrace that most people are ashamed to call them car parks.

The excuse of being short of funds is not acceptable, considering the amount spent by the council on Corporation Park in the past few years.
