I WISH to contact any of your readers who are ex-Merchant Seamen and attended the National Sea Training School/College, Gravesend.
The Gravesend Sea Training School was founded in 1918 to train boys aged 15 and 16 years to join the Merchant Navy and help replace the men who were lost in the war.
Around 70,000 boys were trained there and it became known as the best sea training school in the world.
The reason for my letter is to let ex-trainees and staff members know about the National Sea Training School/College "Gravesend" Association. Anyone interested should contact me.
JOHN D MEADOWCROFT, General Secretary, 15 Springbok Cottages, Alfold, Surrey.
