I WAS surprised and little taken aback with the Saturday sermon by the Rev Kevin Logan in the Telegraph, with his eye for an eye and smite the smiter justice for the killers of Gary Newlove.

But I and many others I suspect, totally agree with him. A man's life has been taken. His family are devastated.

They will suffer probably for the rest of their lives while the murderers will spend a few years in a comfy prison watching telly and playing pool, before being released to carry on their lives.

If we truly lived in a democracy, we would have the death penalty and they would have been hanged, along with Soham murderer Ian Huntley and others of his ilk. When is the punishment going to fit the crime?

It's time the politicians stopped voting with their conscience and voted for what the electorate want, justice.
