I AM writing regarding the performance of Elevate in Burnley, which has been in operation for several years. Many houses in the Elevate areas have been demolished but no new build has taken place.
The heart has been ripped out of Burnley Wood and several other areas have suffered the same fate. I find it totally unacceptable that many people are living in fear, not knowing whether their homes are to be demolished or not.
A further example of the madness is the Piccadilly and Trafalgar areas, again a large number of the properties are under threat, the residents do not know their fate. This is entirely wrong.
I must also criticise Burnley Council for their handling of the situation.
Also the stopping of grants which are to be replaced by loans. Many of the people involved have no mortgage and do not want to end up with a loan. The residents in the Elevate areas are not receiving a fair crack of the whip, they are living on a knife edge not knowing their fate.
The present situation is totally unfair and definitely unacceptable.
