I WAS horrified to read (LT, December 8) about the moron who attacked Mr Rhodes.

This person, released early from prison for whatever reason, has proved he does not, and will not, learn the difference between right and wrong whatever excuses he and his defence come up with.

He should have had another five years on his sentence. Every effort must be made to seek out his accomplice who must be as bad.

No person is safe to walk the streets because of the likes of these no-hopers and cowards.

The law must tighten up and those who defend these criminals must realise they are fighting a lost cause and costing decent peoples' pockets a fortune in trials.

Mr B Whittaker, Manchester Road, Burnley.
