I TOTALLY agree (LT, December 6) with R Crane saying Darwen's never been such a mess, and is no surprise that the For Darwen party was set up.
It took the retiring chief executive to admit mistakes were made to the Blackburn town centre in the 60s, when two leaders of the council were given knighthoods, nothing changes.
The last councillor to be given a knighthood did not accept an independent survey which showed that more money per head of population was spent in Blackburn than Darwen, and was subsequently de-selected. So much for knighthoods.
After the fiasco and closure of Darwen Leisure Centre, when after two years not a brick has been laid, Darwen needs a party that will listen and ensure the character of the town is retained and has a fair share of the spending.
D WALSH, Lynwood Ave, Darwen.
