WITH regards to, and in support of, Councillor Johnson's comments and all previous remarks on the subject of the new bins.
I happen to be a Rovers fan, but I have friends and colleagues who support, amongst others, Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Sheffield, Portsmouth, Newcastle and Chelsea; should they all be ticking a form to request bins in the appropriate colours?
This debate is pointless, petty and wrong - the last Burnley strip I saw was claret AND blue. There doesn't appear to be any blue on my new bin. I also have a bin that is black but no one has yet suggested that I support the New Zealand rugby team.
The new leader of the council, Coun Rigby has stated that he has more pressing concerns than where and when to place the latest in the never-ending stream of statues Blackburn is overrun with.
Finally, some commonsense in the council chambers. It's about time the councillors realised that their role is to ensure the social and economic growth of the town they are entrusted with, and the welfare, safety and quality of life of its constituents.
Not endless debating over trivia such as whose statue goes where, and who supports which football team.
We have a town centre that is deserted, a road network that appears to be deliberately designed to divert as many customers and visitors as possible into the surrounding towns, a hospital that will no doubt go down in history as the perfect example of how not to run a health service, derelict buildings, housing shortages, drugs, crime, anti-social behaviour, failing schools etc.
Matters far more deserving of debate than what colour the bins should be.
