BLACKBURN Transport, run by Blackburn with Darwen Council, has now sold out to Transdev, which is a privately run company.
Under the Transdev logo it says developing mobility'.
There are now some areas in Blackburn (I don't know about Darwen) which are Warrenside Close, Little Harwood, Queen's Park and Shadsworth where some stops have been withdrawn altogether.
Some people, mainly the elderly are finding it difficult find a bus stop within easy walking distance.
Most of these elderly people have mobility problems.
I have heard sad stories from elderly people.
It appears they are being socially excluded and I would say age discrimination comes in here.
It is no good pensioners being given free bus passes when they are now having to spend money on taxis beause there is no bus service to use.
Transdev is advising people to use alternative forms of transport if they can't get to a bus stop, eg dial a ride or maybe a replacement service with Blackburn and Darwen Council. What a cheek.
I have a letter to this effect from Transdev.
All Trandev seems to be interested in is profit. It appears they only want to go on straight runs and not in and out the houses which would use more petrol.
They have made all sorts of excuses to me, eg bad road surfaces, parking of cars, road-humps, Come on Transdev.
