IF the opinion polls are to be believed, it looks as though the myth that Gordon Brown was one of our best-ever Chancellors is beginning to unravel.

Many of us, myself included, have long thought that he was one of the worst ever.

Remember, this is the man who, by robbing pension schemes of billions of pounds, has helped to destroy what was the best private pensions provision in the world.

This is also the man who invented so many new ways to tax us that we now pay more tax than ever.

Mr Brown has also squandered billions of pounds on health and education with no visible sign of any improvements.

Most of the money has gone to pay more and more bureaucrats and administrators and to pay doctors much more for doing less.
