Can someone please explain to me what is going on in Darwen.

I went into Darwen after trying to negotiate my way through the maze that someone says is a better traffic system than we have ever had!

What is that little traffic island thing in the middle of the road outside what used to be County Sports?

The traffic system in Darwen should be called death-trap alley' because someone, somewhere is going to get hurt on the A666.

I finally managed to park up only to find that I couldn't get into the town hall from the market entrance because someone from the governing coalition' had stated that it had to be locked because it is a fire door.

Surely if it is a fire door then it needs to be kept unlocked!

The real reason, as I found out later, is that Citizens Advice and Help the Aged are moving into the town hall (to save on the council paying the rents!) and they don't want people just walking in!

What people are forgetting is that this then leaves another central shop empty.

We are fast becoming a ghost town.

I then found out that once I had gotten into the premises I won't be able to pay my council tax on certain days in future.

How many people are going to use that as an excuse for their payments being late?

Not everyone has transport to get into Blackburn to pay.

What I truly want to know is what has happened to those people who were elected by Darreners on the back of promises from certain councillors that Darwen was and would always be their main priority?

It is these same councillors that are sounding the death-knell for Darwen.

Come on people of Darwen - let's stand up for what we want and need and stop being told what we can and can't do.

If we let this continue much longer there won't be a Darwen left!
