I WORK in Colne and commute on a daily basis on the train as I thought this was the greener option, however I have decided to travel by different methods now and basically simply care more about my sanity than my carbon footprint.
Take today for instance. One train was late so I ended up standing on the platform for 45 minutes which isn't too bad, but then add the "characters" who shared the platform with me.
Sat in the shelter was a drunk. He was trying to talk to a young lady who quite frankly didn't want to know, before he tried to stand up and fell into me.
He then wandered towards the train that had just pulled in, almost falling off the platform.
I thought it was all over until a youth with his girlfriend was told to move from behind the shelter by the voice of the station announcer.
He did but then came charging out threatening another youth with the words "I'm gonna slice you next time I see you so watch out you..."
The end... I think not.
There was another family bragging to a young man about how the Jeremy Kyle Show featured the estate where he lived.
The man was so proud that his estate had all the social problems that this sort of program features saying that they could make a whole series just from his street.
Nice.
