I HAVE been reading a biography of the late Benny Hill.
No doubt many fans would rate him one of Britain's best ever comedians, a star of radio, theatre and television.
It was disgraceful that during his lifetime he received no state awards, an OBE, CBE or even a Knighthood.
It was disgraceful the way he was sacked on the spot without so much as a thank you by Thames Television in 1989.
His TV shows were shown in over 100 countries. Now when we have so-called comedians on television who are about as funny as toothache. How we need another Benny Hill. Alas he may well have been a one-off.
