WE, the councillors who courted popularity according to Mike Madigan, did our homework before making the promises about waste management.
We were responding to the wishes of the electors who are fed up with the smells and health problems associated with fortnightly collections.
Far from acting irresponsibly we were merely anticipating the latest call from the (Labour) government, which encourages all councils to re-introduce weekly collections of food refuse on health grounds.
