THE LATEST revelation that soldiers held prisoner by Iran have been offered large sums of money to tell their story seems to many, to rank as a slap in the face to other brave men and women who have served their country without the imposed limelight of being captured for what was a short period of time, then being released.
Many Victoria Cross winners earned their accolade, facing overwhelming odds in battle.
Everyone sympathises with the crew who were taken captive, but to put them in an elevated position does not sit well with people who have lost loved ones in conflicts.
The Press want to wake up and follow the true earners of awards.
Can anyone remember the trauma of prisoners held in the 1939-45 war, and the suffering of the families who waited years for their return?
