Re: Post office moves home (Letters, March 23).
A SIGN has been placed on the outside shutter stating: ‘Following a period of review and local public consultation a decision has been made to proceed with the move of this post office branch’.
I’d like to ask exactly which locals were actually consulted with because, to many locals, this has come across as a shock. If the locals had been consulted the decision to move would never have been given the green light.
Moreover senior residents will have to face the trouble of going over to where the new branch has been relocated which is not just a busy crossing but also a trek for those who found the Cherry Street branch convenient, accessible and closer to home.
The other small business which operate on the street will now have to suffer as a result of these changes.
It makes you wonder when you will see the ordinary man reap the benefits of trying to earn a decent living in these already tough economic times.
