Re: Driving test needs changing: experts (LT, March 18), I am all for changing the driving test to bring it more up to date with present driving trends (not too sure about the satnav side of it), but I’m not in agreement with a lot of things said about new or younger drivers.
Most of the people who write these pieces only spend 30 minutes a day in their cars (maybe a little more due to all the roadworks in and around town) travelling to and from their workplaces.
I suggest you poll all the local driving instructors who spend all their working day on the town’s roads and see who they think are the main culprits for most of the close encounters they and their students have every day.
Maybe we need to start testing the so-called experienced drivers?
But most importantly, getting all the illegal drivers off the roads because I’m 100% certain that there are a lot of those on the roads of this town.
