ANY investment in schools is money well spent.
The announcement seven East Lancashire schools will get a share of £33million along with 90 others nationwide is great news.
Schoolchildren are our engineers, police officers, firemen, doctors, lawyers, social workers and journalists of the future.
Giving them the best possible facilities to learn and realise their ambitions should always remain a key priority.
The seven schools receiving funding have been selected by the Department for Education.
Education secretary Nicky Morgan and schools minister David Laws announced the funding but the exact allocation for each school has not been disclosed.
The cash will be used to repair buildings, replace flooring, upgrade facilities and complete fire risk assessment works.
By giving these youngsters the chance to use these new and improved facilities we are nurturing their enthusiasm and hopefully helping them to change their lives for the better.
Parents, teachers and governors need to make sure that their schools are considered for any future funding.
East Lancashire children deserve the best start and we must do everything we can to make sure they get it.
