RE, Link road through Bailey’s Field in Darwen to open up development sites My family moved to St James’ Estate when it was first built. Ivinson Road wasn’t built then. When it was, it was very wide and when asked why, we were told it was for the new by-pass that would be built, up Goosehouse, up the bottom end of Holden Fold, across Ivinson Road, across Bailey’ Field and on to Priory, to take the traffic away from the town centre. That was all of 60+ years ago. Why the surprise now?
